Weekend in San Diego

This past weekend we traveled to San Diego! The drive is only two hours from LA to San Diego, and is very scenic. On the way we stopped at San Juan Capistrano, a mission established (I think) in 1776:

In San Diego, we visited Grand Judy's cousin, Brian, Brian's wife Diana, and their daughter Victoria.

Victoria was so sweet and right away took me to the San Diego Zoo. It was humungo. But it was especially nice to visit with Victoria because she is a reporter for a San Diego news station, and she had some good insight on "the biz" (Duh, that's what we call it in Hollywood, gosh).

For dinner we went to this restaurant called Bali Hai. It had a BEAUTIFUL view of San Diego and I'm so sad my sucky camera didn't get a picture good enough to do it justice. And the food was DELISH. Nothing short of lip smackin' good. Mmm mmm mmm. California has some good food, that's for sure.

Here are some photes: ([Phote-s] That's Bill talk for pictures.)

I also went to a really cool bar with Victoria and some of her friends. It was called El Camino and it was right by the San Diego airport, so planes just fly right overhead, and get a little too close for comfort. It was a pretty cool place.

Sadly, my mom left us (to go back to San Antonio to help Kate prepare for A&M) on Sunday morning. But then the fun REALLY began at Babette's Bingo. It was a martini lunch in Hillcrest, which is I think a gay district of San Diego. They do lunch, serve over 40 types of martinis, and bingo which is hosted by Babette. Babette is a 39 year old drag queen.

I won, and the prize was fabulous. I got a "Bride" sash, which is great for me, someone who is not married nor engaged. But that was a trade "up" from my binocular set that I opted out of, in order to choose the mystery bag prize. Hence, me, my martini, and my prize. Also note some other shots of the fun:

On the way home, which was a fun car ride with a grandmother who has never had ONE martini, let alone three, we stopped at La Jolla Beach which is SO pretty! The seals were on the beach and it was so ador (adorable, duh). Plus we found a house that I'll just buy when I get my first paycheck from my internship, where I earn 0 dollars per hour. It's 2.5 million.

So, all in all, the weekend was so much fun! Definitely want to bring Bill back to San Diego when he comes. The city seems to be in competition with LA, because all of Victoria's friends in San Diego kind of had this "eh, LA is ok, if you like that over-crowded, hellorific traffic, outrageous rent kind of thing, but San Diego is much better" attitude.

And on the way back Grand Judy and I stopped at the Carlsbad Outlet where we did some major bargain shopping, and I got an awesome deal on a sweeeeet watch. I'm excited about it.

Today at E! I saw Giuliana Rancic (who has my dream job so I love her!) talking to Kelly Bensimon (which is funny b/c I just watched her on the Real Housewives Reunion Part 2 last night-- not the most flatter portrayal of her, but she seemed very nice today, as I stood creepily from afar). But apparently Ryan Seacrest had a stalker who was just jailed? He was outside the building with a knife. Scary, right?! Good thing they have security...?

And, because I'm still trying to figure out this Blog (I try to send E-mail notifications, but not sure if it works), I uploaded pictures and an "update" of LA thus far on my last post! FYI.

That's all for now!
